Tim Duncan Breaks Surprising Streak

Tim Duncan Streak

Arguably the best power forward to play the game of basketball, Tim Duncan is a seasoned veteran in the NBA and has broken a surprising streak against the Chicago Bulls.

After going 1,310 games having made a field goal, Duncan failed to register a made shot from the floor during the 116-105 victory against Chicago.

Duncan did manage three points during the game – all from the free throw line. However, this was the first time in a pretty long time that he failed to score at least one field goal.

However, whilst Duncan went 0-8, the Spurs leant on French point guard Tony Parker – who seems to have finally overcome his troublesome hamstring injury, dropping 32 points over 48 minutes.

Parker hasn’t had a record year by any means, and it’s been a similar story for the Spurs’ entire season so far. Gregg Popovich’s side have struggled with numerous injuries, which has seen them settle at the sixth seed in the West with a 39-23 record.

Duncan has also been used sparingly by Popovich, with his health clearly being at the forefront of the team’s mind. It’s not likely that we’ll see too many more games where he doesn’t at least make one field goal though – with this game a minor blip which won’t bother him too much.

Seeing as the Spurs franchise is one based around a team ethos, it’s improbable that this streak will even get brought up – but if it does, we imagine that Timmy will take it with quite a hefty pinch of salt.

Duncan will be relied upon much more when the Spurs make the playoffs, but if he has a couple more games without a field goal, Popovich won’t be making a fuss about it.
