The Sacramento Kings had a ‘baby race’ and it was AWESOME!

NBA half time shows tend to consist of a couple of different things. Typically, if you’re at the arena you get to watch cheerleaders, trampoline dunkers or mascots doing their thing – sometimes we get an epic half-court shot for a car or cash reward, but we think the Sacramento Kings have topped everyone…

During the Kings’ home game against the Toronto Raptors earlier on this week, instead of bringing out those aging T-shirt guns, they brought out babies, and got them to race a portion of the court – and believe it or not, it made for awesome viewing!

Parents were trying to tempt infants with a number of items, including stuffed animals, rattles, and for some reason – a bottle of water (don’t ask, we’re just as confused as you are).

After something a bit more serious? How about this UFC styled elbow from Marvin Williams on Lou Amundson! Ouch…

One particular highlight is the mid-race ‘collision’ between two of the babies toward the front of the pack – resulting in one competitor simply giving up and bawling their eyes out, although we’re sure they’re uninjured and looking to return to the court soon.

The winning baby was awarded a Kings goody-bag, along with a rousing reception from the Californian crowd. The race even seemed to spur on the players, who pulled out the win come the final buzzer.

We’re not saying that racing babies wins basketball games, but at the moment the babies’ record is more impressive than that of the 4-8 Kings right now…
