NBA London 2018 teams: Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics confirmed

NBA London 2018 teams announced

The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers will be the teams competing at the O2 Arena in January as part of NBA London 2018, the league has confirmed.

Both teams were tipped in reports to be partaking in the yearly international clash earlier on this year, and those reports have now been confirmed.

The move brings a number of current and potential all-stars to British shores in what’s sure to be one of the most highly anticipated London games in recent memory.

Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz and Dario Saric will lead the Philadelphia franchise, whilst Boston will be headed by Isaiah Thomas, Al Horford and newly acquired Gordon Hayward.

Tickets for the bout will go on sale in October. Fans can register their interest in tickets by visiting NBA.com/London.

For those unable to secure tickets for the game, BT Sport will be broadcasting it live, whilst NBA League Pass customers will be able to watch online.

The game marks the league’s eighth regular-season game in London and the Celtics’ second game in the capital, having played a preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2007.

The 76ers will be playing their second game in the UK and first game in London, having previously played a preseason game in Manchester against the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2013.

Speaking following the confirmation of the decision regarding both teams and NBA London 2018, Adam Silver was excited with the announcement:

“This will be our 16th game in London where our events have become an annual opportunity for basketball fans across Europe to come together and share their passion for the NBA.” He said.
