Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson has admitted that he enjoys going up against the Houston Rockets – believing that it gives him the chance to test his mettle against the best in the game.

The 27-year-old guard has once again proved to be one of the key members of the Warriors’ season so far – scoring 20.7ppg at a 45% clip from beyond the arc – also contributing 4.1rpg.

However, despite his hot shooting over the course of the season, the Oakland franchise currently sit just two games ahead of the Rockets.

Golden State are set to take on the Rockets in one of the biggest games of the season so far next week. But he’s been quick to compliment the improved Southwest division side.

“Well, the Rockets are playing phenomenal this year, but it pushes us to get even better.” he said, in an international conference call held by the NBA.

“And Chris Paul and James Harden, I mean, it’s one of the best if not the best backcourt in the game right now just because they’re such great playmakers.

“They both can shoot the ball. They don’t really have any weaknesses.”

The arguments among many basketball fans often pit the Golden State duo of Stephen Curry and Thompson against Harden and Paul, and Washington State Alumn believes that competition can only improve him and his fellow teammate.

“It’s always a fun match-up when me and Steph get to go against them because we can measure ourselves as players against the best.” he said.

“They beat us the first time [on opening night], and we’re looking forward to that game in a few weeks because we owe them some revenge.”

Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors face up against the Houston Rockets on January 5th, before clashing once more later on in January.
