Nikola Jokic was deemed too ill to even leave the team’s hotel last night as the Nuggets fell 106-121 to the Thunder, courtesy of yet another triple double from Russell Westbrook.
Jokic has become a key player for the Nuggets, averaging 19 points, 10 boards and 5 assists in 2017. His presence was sorely missed, as the deputising Jusuf Nurkic posted 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Nuggets missed Jokic’s scoring presence even more, with point guard Emmanuel Mundiay going scoreless in 25 minutes of action. This lack of scoring meant that although the Nuggets went into the half time break tied with the Thunder, they couldn’t keep up with Westbrook and co in the second half, where they were outscored 46-61.
The defeat might linger longer than most, as the Nuggets now have a long flight to London before taking on the inform Indiana Pacers in Thursday’s NBA London showcase.
The Nuggets will be hoping that Jokic is well enough to make the trip, as a win in London is now even more vital for the Nuggets in their chase for a Playoff spot in the Western Conference.
