NBA London 2019: Washington Wizards star John Wall can’t wait to hit the UK

John Wall is looking forward to NBA London 2019

Washington Wizards point guard John Wall has admitted he’s looking forward to the ‘fun and exciting’ prospect of taking part in NBA London 2019.

The Wizards are set to do battle with the New York Knicks in January at the annual event, and despite having never made the trip to the British capital before, the 28-year-old is excited to head over and immerse himself in the city.

“It’s great. Fun for me. We went to Brazil and played before, so that was exciting.” he said.

“I’ve never been to London, so I think it’s going to be a great atmosphere for me the first time to be there, plus play a basketball game, so I think it’s going to be fun and exciting.

“If you want to see a show, you want to see the D.C. family come down there and tear it up, get some tickets and enjoy watching us play.”

Whilst the event will give Wall and his teammates a chance to enjoy some time abroad through the regular season, the five-time all-star realises that it is essentially a business trip.

Whilst their opponents in January could be without their talismanic star in Kristaps Porzingis, Wall knows that they could still prove a tough opponent at the O2 Arena.

“They’re [the Knicks] a talented team. They’ve got some pieces they’re trying to add.” he continued.

“Not having [Kristaps] Porzingis there is a different schedule for them. But, they have a lot of talented young guys.

“[They] have one of my good friends Trey Burke, over there [who] is talented. Tim Hardaway Jr., those guys.

“I think they’re a team that’s going to be flying under the radar, but is still going to compete hard and play hard because coach [David] Fizdale’s doing a heck of a job.”

Tickets for the NBA London Game 2019 will go on general sale Friday, Oct. 19 at 9am (BST) at www.axs.com/nbalondon.
