Boston Top Orlando with Rondo Double-Double

Rajon Rondo Double-Double

Rajon Rondo put an exclamation mark on his continued return from injury with a 19 point, 10 assist double-double as the Boston Celtics beat the Orlando Magic 96-89.

Rondo, who is coming back from an ACL injury which has seen him sidelined for the majority of 2013, racked up season highs in both points and assists in the win, whilst also grabbing 6 rebounds, showing glimpses of his stat stuffing ability in the win.

Orlando on the other hand struggled throughout to score the ball and saw Rookie Guard Victor Oladipo struggle from the floor.

The Celtics were playing with their 14th different starting line-up of the season, but leaned on Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger (21 points, 12 rebounds) to ensure the win between two of the NBA’s worst teams.

Rondo will be buoyed by his personal performance which showed flashes of his brilliant form over the past few years, along with everyone connected to the franchise.

The Magic have now slumped to 13-36 for the season and appear to be in tank mode, of which is no surprise to many familiar with the league and an extremely shallow Eastern Conference.

Whilst Boston aren’t doing markedly better, they have an All-Star Point Guard rebuilding the class and form he was playing with before his unfortunate injury, whilst the Magic have little but a possible lottery draft pick to look forward to.

Orlando won’t get much respite after the defeat either, having to travel to Eastern Conference powerhouses Indiana Pacers to start off a 10-game Monday night.

Boston aren’t in action again until Wednesday when they make the short trip to take on the Philadelphia 76ers in another battle in the lower half of the Eastern Conference, where they will be hoping for another Rondo double-double style performance.
